Campaign for Fiscal Equity

Mission Statement

The Campaign for Fiscal Equity, Inc. (CFE), a non-profit organization, leads the effort to protect and promote the constitutional right to the opportunity for a sound basic education for all New York’s public school students.

CFE was founded in 1993 by a coalition of concerned parents and education advocates who filed the landmark case CFE v. State of New York, which established this right and the state’s obligation to provide adequate resources to make the right a reality. Through policy research and development, legislative and policy advocacy, and public engagement, CFE works to ensure transparency and accountability in school funding. CFE also oversees the implementation of the education policy and reform legislation that resulted from the CFE lawsuit as well as continuing efforts to implement this right. CFE works to educate and engage the public and policymakers to ensure full implementation of the education funding increases, accountability measures, and public participation process provided by these policy and reform measures.

Parents from across the state march on the Capitol in Albany to show support for CFE.
